Need help. CPU upgrade

It may need a BIOS update for some of the later 4th gen i7's.

There are two sets of 4th gen CPU:

- Devil's Canyon (which the i7's would be 4790 and 4790K).

 

4770(K): works on any BIOS of the H81.

4790(K): may require a BIOS update, depends on the version it's on now.

ah ok my aim was a 4790k but kind of nervous about doing a bios update, I have no idea how to.

This article shows how to update the BIOS.

In short, you need a working CPU on the board and a flash drive. Just place the BIOS files on the flash drive and you can update it like that.

You probably don't need to update indeed, according to the CPU support list, you need BIOS version 2001 or newer for i7 4790K support: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H81MPLUS/HelpDesk_CPU/

Got i7-4790 non K :D cant wait for it. Dont really care thats its non k
