Ok so here is my problem. My card's fans suddenly started to ramp up for no reason. At first i thought it was the temps so i cleaned my PC, but then i realized that the temps were actually better than they were before (because its colder in my room now).

Ive had this card for a year now and this never happened before, the temps were always around 82C and the fans would be static at 2600 RPM. But for 2-3 weeks now it started ramping up for no reason, i did a Firmware update, Driver update, Windows fresh install, tried MSI afterburner to set the fan curve, changed the Temps limit, i even tried to remove my side pannel to give it a lot more fresh air, but nothing changed ....

I linked a screenshot of my fans max RPM/Temps and a video (the video is really bad sorry but i couldnt record it for X reason). I went to the store where i bought my component to get some help, but it didnt change a thing.... is it a known problem and can i RMA the card for that or is there a fix for it ?

Thanks :D

You could change the default fan curve in MSI afterburner.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

Yeah like i said, i already tried and it didnt work at all ... i feel like it could be a sensor/VRM problem ...

And it's weird because when i use Afterburner to set the fan to 100% it doesnt go past 3000RPM ... but on my screenshot you can clearly see it goes up to 4000+ ...

My EVGA 2080 XC began doing that earlier this year. As soon as temps hit 80C, bam 100% fan speed. Luckily I had an old accelero fan shroud in storage, so I removed EVGA's el-cheapo fans and shroud and ziptied the accelero fans to the heatsink. Somehow it fit perfectly and snug and the card runs 10 degrees cooler and zero noise at 100% fan speed. For most people with this problem it's an RMA, I just happened to get creative lol.

I've been seeing this problem pop up constantly for the past year for Nvidia cards (and I'm not going out of my way to find posts or videos about it either), and it's slightly different for everyone. for some people its 75 degrees on the core that triggers 100% fan speed, for others its 80 degrees, for many the fans will just ramp up for no reason when the card is idling. You're going to get the same brainless advice wherever you go, like "try using afterburner to adjust fans" or "reapply thermal paste", but the problem is the fan controllers and/or temp sensors that some Nvidia AIB's are using. If its generic components then maybe its happening to AMD as well, although I can only recall seeing this with gigabyte and evga.

I did some research and its only EVGA/Aorus ... I really thought Aorus was a good brand, but i guess MSI is clearly the best one .... never had any problem with them at ALL .... I shouldnt have tried a new company ..
