BEWARE OF TITANFALL

Faceman

I should clarify -- after having solved this problem and finding the true issue that was preventing me from downloading it properly.  Looking in hindsight, I am still disgusted at a 50GB game that doesn't look as good as BF4, and without a single player campaign and so much of it for audio and that I had to install it on my SSD...

I am not convinced that who I spoke with via chat was a representative of EA.

"I genuinely dislike the promulgation of false information, especially to people who are asking for help selecting new parts."

They do allow multiple library locations. Just change the location while installing and then change it back...

You mean change the storage location in the settings menu? Origin won't recognize multiple locations. Whatever folder you choose for the location of installed games is the only folder it will recognize installed games from.

I have Origin installed on my SSD, I have game installers and installed games installed on my D drive (WD Black 1TB), but I have the BF4 folder SymLinked to a folder on my SSD.

Exactly what Hakka said. Simply switch folders for the installation and it will install to the new location. Then switch back after you install and the game will stay in the correct directory. No need for any fancy "Symbiotic Link"s.

Eh, now I know for next time. I'm not gonna bother changing it or getting rid of my symlink. If I ever need to reformat, I'll do it with your method. I still think they need to add the ability to have multiple locations, without changing it to one, then back to the other.

At first glance it looks like you are downloading at 50MB/s. I replied for the benefit of everyone, in case someone (at first glance) thought you had a 50MB/s connection.

DISABLE MY FIREWALL TO DOWNLOAD A GAME??? -- RED FLAG

I think when i used to play World of Warcraft i also had to disable the firewall to properly download it so i don't think its that much of a problem disabling it and re enabling  it after its finished downloading?

This is too good. Are you implying that EA has put a game up for download from their servers after infecting it with malicious software.

What's wrong with disabling your firewall? I disable it all of the time because it's retarded and blocks programs games I want to allow, and I'm too lazy to just put them in exceptions list.

Stupid people never cease to amaze me.

PROTIP: The loading screens literally take seconds on a HDD, if you don't want to waste 50GB SSD space then move it to a larger capacity hard drive.

You don't need an SSD to play Titanfall, it's Source engine, other then speedier load times I doubt there would be any other benefits to using an SSD.

A game like Arma which streams tons of data from the drive it does benefit in major ways from using an SSD.

I started using the Origin Beta since I could never download a game without a similar issue. Try that. I went through like 150GBs of downloading before I found that.
