Why the fuck are there speakers in the headband???

 

I was about to post this question when I saw the link. They expect use to hear sounds (and pinpoint location) from our skulls now?? Didn't bother to read the description, but I'd imagine they're implementing some bone vibrations voodoo and stuffs.

 

To the OP: I don't think you'd need 'real' 5.1 headphones (the type with 5 or 6 drivers on each ears) to get the 5.1 surround. Directx already do that. Directx can upmix stereo channels to 5.1 or 7.1, calculate the delays, and output in stereo channel. Soundcards tends to compliment this process even better. So you'll only need good stereo headphones, I think.

No the cups are quite big. They are much larger than the Sennheiser design.
