Budget (including currency): 900€

Country: Spain

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Doom Eternal, MSFS2020 and so...

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I'm planning on building a whole new PC since mine is getting old. My limit is something like 900$/€ (I'm in EU) so I thought this will be a nice PC:

- Intel i5-10600 (non K) or Ryzen 5 3600X (~200€)

- Asus TUF motherboard (~100€) (In AMD, this is a B450 chipset, shall I get a B550 instead?)

- 16 GB RAM DRR4 3200MHz CL16 from Corsair (~65€)

- Corsair 650W PSU (~65€)

- RTX 3060 Ti/S, RTX 3060 or the new Radeons GPUs for ~1440p at 60FPS gaming

My problem arise when I cannot decide if I should wait for a new 200€ Zen 5 CPU, since that might take months, overlap with Christmas and shooting the price of everything waaaay up.

- Should I buy the i5, the 3600X or wait? Will prices really skyrocket?

- If they do, Should I wait anyways since the RTX 3060 won't be coming until end of year or maybe 2021?

- What would you do? I just don't want to waste my money because of price changes.

Thanks to everyone and sorry for my english.

If you're waiting for the 3060, you might as well wait for the CPU as well.

It'll be substantially more than 200 euro though.

Lol, you are wasting money if you get the 3600x. Yo pay 20 USD more, I don't know in euros, for what is bassically a x at the end. I'd wait for a 5600x though.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

I can get the 3600X and the 3600 for the same price so that's why.

About the 5600x, It's 299€ which will be like 320€ here in Spain, and that's way over budget. In addition I'll need to buy the newer chipset that will add even more cost to the build or stay with the B450 chipset loosing some of the new things...If those new things are really worth? I don't know tbh.

The questions simplifies itself to: Is there gonna be a 5600 (Non X) or a 5500 worth ~200€ by the time the 3060 releases?

Thanks for the response tho.

That's the thing, I cannot expend more than that on the CPU.

What worries me is that no Zen 3 at that price point has been announced, and even though a 5600 (non X) or 5500 will come, it might be later than the 3060 release and/or might come with additional costs because of the chipsets, new mobos, etc...

I'll wait some weeks till the 3070 releases to see how the market reacts to it and if any new 3060 leaks or teaser gets to the public.

In any case, should I buy the RAM, PSU, CASE or any other component since some are cheap these days and might be more expensive near holyday season?

Then buy now. They've released no information about cheaper processors, and when asked they said they don't have any information about them. So, they might not even bother releasing non-x processors this year. Even if they do, they won't be 200, they'd probably come in around 249.

Chipsets won't be any different than they are now.

Most of the time prices go down, not up, during the holiday season. At least here, I don't know about there. You can buy those whenever, it's not like they'll be outdated.
