Hi all,

I just recently built me a PC for iRacing and wanting to be able to stay cool so I can run the longer races like 80 to 125 laps or more without it getting to hot. What is has now is what came with the case in terms of fans and a pwm repeater, also I'm wondering would it be safe for me to put my graphics card in top slot. I was thinking about changing out case fans to noctua chromax but was wondering also about placement of case fans for optimal cooling. Thanks for help.picture of pc is belowspacer.png

what you have so far looks good. just monitor temps for gpu and cpu while gaming and see if you need to make improvements

I did the other day an open class truck series race that was 80 laps and after about 15 or 20 laps I monitored the temp during pit stop and gpu had reached 68°C is that normal? The simulator was playing it at 84fps by default

I would place to fans up top to exhaust air and have two more pulling air in from the front.

So 3 in and 3 out. Until you have the other fans I would have the top fan set to exhaust. While it sound like a good idea to have cooler air move directly onto the components, you are really pushing hot air further into the case, something you actually want to avoid. That being said, your temps are fine but I still would recommend more fans and then have them set to only ramp up once you go above 75C for a quiet gaming experience.

Thank you for responding what case would you recommend for better cooling the cpu I have is the amd ryzen 7 3800x that would fit this space on desk? I was looking at the corsair icue220t case

Idle doesn't matter. Load temps is what counts

I just started to log my temps in hwinfo64 after I get done with iracing 40 lap race ill try to upload them to here

@boggy77 I uploaded my computers temps while under load. I had iRacing loaded the whole and it was doing a truck race for 40 laps and had it turned down to 30fps. HWINFO64 put the temps in a spreadsheet, but I tried to simplify it down to just the cPU and GPU temps along with fan rpms as well.

The temps are perfectly fine. CPU max is 68.8C, average 54.6. There is nothing to be worried about.

Did you get those numbers from the spreadsheet I made?

By the way, why did you limit the fps to 30? Run a test with unlimited FPS and log the temps as you did earlier. That's a more realistic representation of the cooling capabilities of your system.

Ok @Vals89 I will do that this evening, I'll set the same session in iracing to No Limit on frame rates and log the data.

Do yall think I would be ok if I went ahead and put graphics card in first slot would it clear the cooler card has metal backplate on it

I have completed a stress test with no limit on iRacing but was afraid to run it very long because graphics card was getting warm as mentioned in the spreadsheet attached to this reply.

CPU AVG 57.43717
CPU Peak 67.3
GPU peak 77
GPU AVG

69.53982

These temps are perfectly normal, both for the CPU and GPU. 67 degrees peak for the CPU is really cool and 77 degrees peak for the GPU is normal as well, considering the average temp is 69.5 degrees. There's nothing to worry about

Also, quote people's posts or mention them in your own, so they get a notification.

ok thank you for helping. I was also wondering is it safe to put my graphics card in that top slot in my current build and also what do you recommend for case fans placement, the fans in it now is what came with the case. I wouldn't mind getting more if i have too.

If the card fits in the top slot, put it there, wouldn't be a problem. As for the fan configuration, if you don't want to get extra fans, your current configuration is fine. By the look of the temps you are getting, 2 intakes and 1 exhaust work for your build. Only thing I would suggest is to move the top intake in front so it can blow some air in the GPU's direction. Best would be to put 3 in front as intake, one on the back and top for exhaust in order to create positive air pressure, but it's fine as it is.

So I moved graphics card to top slot, and already seeing improvements it seems to be quieter, I will post temperature readings after the 1215pm iracing session so you can see if temperatures are still good
