Gaming 4k, Upgrade 3900x to 5900x?

I enjoy high end gaming. I play on a 4k panel 120 Hz. I play on max graphical settings with RTX on. I have a RTX 3090. Is it worth upgrading to a 5900x if I already have a 3900x? I know at higher resolution not as fast FPS, you don't need that great of a CPU, because you are mostly GPU bound, not CPU bound. Is it worth it for me to upgrade? I suspect I won't see much difference for gaming?

Depends on the game really. If it's already able to take advantage of many cores, you're probably going to see a very small fps gain. Most of the improvements with the 5900x seem to be aimed towards single threaded tasks. So if the game only really utilizes 1-4 cores cores at any given moment, you're likely to see a greater difference albeit still fairly small as you're mostly gpu bound at 4k.
