RYZEN 5 3400G PROBLEMS!

Go to solution Solved by boggy77,

if at some point you plan to upgrade the cpu as well, go for 2080 super.

if you want to stick with the 3400g for the foreseeable future, maybe stay with the 2070.

with the 3400g, there won't be a big difference between the 2070 and the cards better than that, as you'll be cpu limited in most games, especially at 1080p

Ryzen 5 3400g Vega 11 graphics

TUF B450 PRO GAMING MOBO

500w Centauro S C550 80+ Bronze PSU

8 120mm rgb fans

(LOOKING FOR THE BEST GPU FOR ME)

I'm planning to buy the best GPU, people said rx570 8gb is the best because there's no bottleneck. but I'm thinking also if i can really maximize it,

is it okay if i can install it with RTX 20series or 30 series? Will it not bottleneck?

and about wattage, can i run GPUs with 500w? even they have 600w recommended wattage?

i know its a stupid question but I'm trying to maximize everything. please help me! thank you

Bottlenecks depend a lot on resolution, refresh rate, and the games you play. That being said, for 1080p 60 Hz, an RX 580 or equivalent should be a good match for that CPU. I'd think the 570 is a bit conservative.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora

I play usually FPS games like Warzone, Valorant. and sooner, i plan to buy a monitor for 144hz. so rx580 is okay with this? Im not a competitive player though. haha. I'm really confused what's the best GPU for 3400g. Thank you!

you could go for a 2060 or 2070 if you wish, bu tthe psu you have looks low quality. if you decide to go for an expensive power hungry gpu, replace the psu as well.

Noted with the PSU, i might change it for safety also. Thank you!

So no bottlenecks with these GPUs (2060,2070)?? Recently 20series prices dropped. so why not take advantage of it. but im just worried that it might not work.

bottlenecking doesn't mean the gpu will not work.

having a weaker cpu will mean that the GPU will not be used at its full potential.

still, when paired with the 3400g, a 2070 will give better performance than a 2060 which will give better performance than the rx580.

I can't speak to those games, so you'll need someone else's experience to judge. 144 Hz is going to be difficult to drive with a 3400G, as a quad core 3.7 GHz Zen+ CPU.

There is always a bottleneck somewhere. You could slap a 3090 in there, and it would game, but it probably won't be any better than a 2070. It'll also likely become a stuttery mess.

Again, I'd be aiming at RX 580, GTX 1660 level performance, based on my experience with a 3770K and a GTX 780.

If the games  you mention are lighter in CPU usage, you might see the value in a 2060.

Noted! But looking at these GPUs. Slight differences with the prices. 2070 super is okay with 3400g? or i can bump to 2080Super? I'm really bothered if it can be paired with 3400g. Thank you again sir! Im really learning alot here.

NOTED! I am planning to buy rx 580 now, is 4gb or 8gb make a difference? Thank you again! S

Thank you for all your answers! It helped my "life decisions" lol

BUT

Im so down with the 580. But another problem came... The RX 5600 XT. The price is very near to it. Is this okay?

and the PSU. Im a bit hardheaded. but is it okay to run RX 5600 xt with 500w even it is recommended 550w?
