Budget (including currency): $3000 USD

Country: USA

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Current build is in my sig... I'm going to be simply upgrading... All parts being switched out will be replaced into my media server/living room PC.

So as soon as I can I'm going to be getting a 3090 ($1500-$1800). Either before or after that I'm going to be upgrading to a 10900k ($650) with a Z490-E Strix mobo ($300).

At that point I'll be really close to my budget. I already have a Corsair H150i on my 9900k. How close of a fit will I be able to get with the current mounting bracket on my AIO? If possible I would like to keep it rather than buy a new one just because of the incompatible bracket. Does anyone know if it will still work or if I can get a aftermarket/OEM bracket that will work?

If I have to get a new cooler it's not the end of the world I'd just rather make the one I have now work being that it's a $180 cooler. I still have roughly $200-$500 dollars left after the other 3 but saving it would be preferred.

Note: as far as the 3090 goes I'm hopefully going to get a FE card but if I can't I am very aware of the cap issues and will make sure the AIB card has the correct caps. Unfortunately the Asus Strix 3090 has 6 of the cheap caps so I won't be able to get a matching card to my mobo. The EVGA cards seem to have the right caps and I've never owned MSI or Gigabyte and for the life of me I will never go as low as to get Zotac or PNY...

Thanks in advance.

1. ITS NOT THE GODDAMNED CAPS

Sorry, but jayz never said Oh, these caps are the problem, and only said this might be the problem.

2. The FE cards also had the problem

3. It has been fixed

a driver hotfix was issued, and the problem was resolved.

Is there any reason not to wait a bit and see what a $600 zen 3 chip would be? The leaks suggest a 10c/20t model, and the top end model (5900x, not the 5950x) should have a boost of 5ghz, so a 5gh all core could be very possible on these next gen cpus.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Well that's good to know. lol. Wasn't the driver fix just to lower the power capabilities on the cards so they can't clock so high to negate having to change their mfg for the caps? Or did I completely miss that info too?

Um... I've just never been a fan of AMD and probably never will be. I like my Intel chips. Call me a fanboy all you want but I'm sticking with Intel regardless if AMD happens to make a better CPU. Money isn't exactly and issue for me so spending more for the same performance on an Intel vs AMD doesn't bother me. Essentially when I was in high school I took a college class for IT and every AMD cpu I came across was just complete shit (bent pins mostly). Everytime someone brought in an AMD machine to be serviced I just handed it off to the other kid. Sorry for the slight rant but no I will be sticking with Intel no matter what. Also the Intel chips can boost to 5.3 so yeah.

No, it modified the boost table so it didnt crash. GN had a video on it.

As for the Intel fanboyism:

lol, That's fair. It's like the whole Apple vs Android thing. I had an iPhone once and I stayed with android ever since.

not to get the topic well... off topic, but i really want to like android, but a bad experience (entirely software, not a hardware thing. i loved the s pen) on my note 9 has shyed me away for a bit. Samgsung had a raise to call feature, where if you were texting someone, nd put the phote to your ear, it would call them. The thing is, it also called them if you put it into a pocket. You also couldn't turn it off.

I found the vid, it was a jayz video, not a gn one, sorry, but here

benchmarks are near the end. sometimes the hotfix did better.

I could use some help with this!

Yeah I found the GN video on the subject. I'll give that a look after.

I never knew of that feature, I would never use it, but i never knew that was even a thing. I skipped the 9 and went from a note 8 to a S10 plus to a S20 Ultra. I've just never appreciated Apple's tactics with what they are doing between their IOS and such. I like iPhones cuz they are usually really smooth and just work but I just have no respect Apple.
