650w GQ with rtx 3080 ok?

Hiago_Bontempo

What i want is more frames with 4k, my setup is:

  • CPU: ryzen 2600x
  • GPU: rtx 2070
  • Fans: 5x SP 120mm from Corsair
  • Storage: 2 sata ssd, 1 sshd, 1 ssd m.2
  • Case: 570x from Corsair
  • PSU: 650w GQ
  • RAM: 4x8gb 3200 rgb
  • motherboard: prime b450 plus

i dont want to OC or something like that, i would undervolt considering if it makes more stable running a rtx 3080 with my setup(i will sell my rtx 2070). My psu was brought 2019 on february.

would be ok using 650w GQ with a rtx 3080?

Since my 8700k @5GHz and my RTX 2080 @2GHz only sucks 450W when gaming, Id say youre more than fine, because a Ryzen 2600x will use way less power than an OCed 8700k.

My Gaming PC:
Inno3D iChill Black - RTX 4080 - +500 Memory, undervolted Core, 2xCorsair QX120 (push) + 2xInno3D 120mm (pull)

G.SKILL Trident Z @6000MHz CL30 - 2x16GB
Asus Strix X670E-E Gaming

1x500GB Samsung 960 Pro (Windows 11)

1x2TB Kingston KC3000 (Games)

1x1TB WD Blue SN550 (Programs)

1x1TB Samsung 870 EVO (Programs)
Corsair RM-850X

Depends on how the GQ handles the 3080's transient spikes. Wattage-wise you're fine.

I think the best way to go about it is trying it out yourself. At worst, it'll trigger the OCP and you'll get a shutdown, which could potentially be solved by slightly undervolting.
