X570 Aorus Xtreme

PNY 3090

My plan is to get the 5900x, and I have all my other parts (case, fans, SSD, PSU) and I want to buy my RAM so all that I have left is the CPU.

Would i be ok to pull the trigger on Corsair Dominator 4000mhz? What’s the worst case scenario?

sure if you want. remember that timings also matter. you probably wont get much of a return but this speed will definitely help

PC specs:

Ryzen 9 3900X overclocked to 4.3-4.4 GHz

Corsair H100i platinum

32 GB Trident Z RGB 3200 MHz 14-14-14-34

RTX 2060

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge wifi

NZXT H510

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

2 TB WD hard drive

Corsair RM 750 Watt

ASUS ROG PG248Q

Razer Ornata Chroma

Razer Firefly

Razer Deathadder 2013

honesly I would wait lol. zen 3 will probably have a ram sweet spot like ryzen 3000.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

True but even if it’s higher than 4000 you’re talking about much much faster ram than most people have right?

Well couldn’t I lower the speed and therefore increase the timings if it’s not the sweet spot? I mean this is a lot faster ram than most people get, almost 30%. It’s already 16, I wonder where I could get.

well corsair isnt going to refund you the lost money that you shelled out for more expensive ram...

I’ve found a couple examples of the 4000mhz dominator performing good, if it’s compatible for zen 2 surely it’s as good at least or better for zen 3. I feel comfortable knowing that it will, at the very least, perform better than 3200/3600 once properly clocked. Now I just need to learn how to clock it lol although I suppose that could be a different venture with zen 3

Yep, lots to learn!

New chips released, will be some updates for memory compatibility and stability in the meantime trying to learn on fresh chips on first install. That should be quite interesting. Please make a thread so I can watch!

Most of this 4000mhz set XMP and walk away is mostly what you see in reviews. What they don't tell you, you won't ever know.

The TPU he states "wanting to spend time tweaking" as there was a struggle past 4000mhz.

It's not the memory, but the memory controller and the bios on the board.

Quite a few things to consider when running 4 sticks and 32GB.

The only thing you can hope for is better memory controller optimization and the lack of Infinity Fabric frequency importance on the 1:1 ratio. Once you break ratio (around 3800/3900 on current Zen) the performance returns diminish quickly. Probably waiting for some reviews on the 5900X memory performance would be a good idea and watch for that IF ratio importance. 4000mhz memory might be a waste of time and money spending an extra X amount for a couple percent increase.
