Hi guys. Starting mechanical engineering at uni on Monday and I need my PC operational for it. This morning I changed the USB suspend setting in windows, restarted my PC and got a USB Over Current Protection warning. I tried restarting and entering bios, no luck. Unplugged the case IO from the motherboard in case of a short. No luck. Tried unplugging all devices including mouse and keyboard, still no luck. Visually checked rear USBs no damage to them, pins look perfect, motherboard is pristine. Not a clue where to go from here, especially as I have no money for a new motherboard before I start uni, and no one I can borrow a pc or laptop from, hence urgent馃槵. I鈥檓 hoping some of you LTT fans have the knowledge I don鈥檛. It is an ASUS Prime聽x370 Pro. Hopefully someone finds the answer so I can get it fixed before Monday. Thanks all. 馃檪

Try pulling all the usb ribbon cables off your board so that only power cables are connected.

Does error persist?

Yeah, unfortunately it does. The only USB connectors that I needed to unplug were from the front IO and were USB 2.0. Didn鈥檛 make a difference when I tried it earlier, all of my tweaks have been done with them unplugged just in case.

I think you can reset the Bios with the following steps:

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1264753/Asus-Prime-X370-Pro.html?page=22

No guarantee this will help, but it should undo the configurations you did before your PC tilted, that may help already...

okay, that is unfortunate.

I would recommend to test the mainboard outside of your case. From what I read on the web the only two left possibilities are, that either your mainboard is defect or something is somewhere shorting your mainboard. Did you screw in the spacers before you put in the mainboard?
