So I recently changed my Modem/Router combo because Vodafone bought the company I was using so I setup their new modem and then a tech guy had to come over and "sync" it? Anyways We also upgraded too 1g. I was finding big problems with gaming "WoW" more than anything, I would randomly jump up to 300ms at times and it would get super funky and when I reset my modem it would fix for a time. Also another very strange problem I'm running into is when I run a speed test on Speedtest.net it should show the normal 930down and 50 up, but when I open up a youtube vid on my other monitor and ran the test my download would dumpster to 400-600 but upload stayed at 50. This did not happen when I payed for 500 download, I would do that test many times no matter if I had a game or video going it would never fluctuate that much.

My Info.

Ethernet cable cat5

Im running with a 1g plan

Im connected via ethernet directly to my modem/router combo which is the Homebox FRITZ! Box 6591

My computer is pretty high end.

Mobo - Asus Rog Strix z390-E Gaming

CPU - i9-9900KF

GPU - 2080ti

I also did a full recovery on my PC to make sure I didnt have some old windows settings affecting it. So its all fresh.

I have never ran into internet probs like this ever.

This started as soon as I swapped to their new router which I returned and got the fritz one and its doing the same thing which means its on their end, or my end.

I've contacted them multiple times and they assure me everything is normal on their end so im just making sure with the REAL 5 head people on here that its not something on my end.

Maybe my windows or network or something is not working well with the 1g speeds? Maybe...idk im out of options at this point.

Maybe you are getting throttled, but they don't do that for speed testing websites because they want you to think that everything is fine.

If the actual game servers or the nodes in between you and the server are under heavy load, you'll experience higher latency. The WoW servers are outside of your ISP's control. You can try running tracert to a WoW server to see where along the route the ping spikes.

What quality setting are you playing the Youtube videos at? Are you sure nothing/no one else is using the network at the same time as you?

I have done some testing and checked how much of my bandwidth is being used while I run a video, stream or game, and its never anything over 50, but when I run a speed test its showing my download speed is down to 600 or so from 930. So idk what that says. And I always run max quality on everything, always have and never had problems. None of this should occur in the first place with 1k download.
