Removing CMOS Battery

I need to remove the CMOS battery because, well, I overclocked too much.  

 

Can I remove the CMOS battery with the motherboard, GPU, well, everything still in the case? 
 

Still new to this overclocking thing. PC has been dead for two days.

I mean you can, gpu might cover the cmos battery but you don't need to take out the board out of the case.

Just be sure to turn off or unplug the power supply, and discharge the system by pressing the power button a few times.

 

No need to remove anything from the system unless it is in the way.

If you can see it, then you can just pop it out.

The problem is some batteries are placed under PCI slots.

Be sure to turn of the PSU otherwise it won't work.

There's only one battery.

many mobos have a set of pins to clear cmos, just bridge the pins by gently touching with a screwdriver. Your mobo manual should have info on location of the pins if it has them.

Oh shoot, are they by the battery normally? There are two pins next to it.

Yes it should be named like JBAT, you can touch the 2 pins with a screwdriver for 10seconds.

Many motherboard doesn't place it near the battery, so popping it would be easier.

That a tomahawk max? Just bridge the pins for ~5-10 seconds with a flathead screwdriver and it will clear cmos.

Yes, it is! Does it need to be on? Or power completely off?
