that's 8 cores, it's not too slow by today's standard

something is probably broken with the game or your PC

did you try OC-ing it?

It is OC-ed to 4.2 GHz.

It's just hard to keep up with recent games for some reason at my preferred 144Hz 😧

Would the 2133 MHz bottleneck the system at all?

did you do a fresh windows install from a USB stick when you moved system?

you could try DDU your GPU driver and re-install it in safe mode

unlikely, CPU of that era doesnt affected by ram speed that much.

and it definitely wont cause 100% usage on all 16 threads while GPU usage is less than a quarter

it's either a broken game or something else in the system that's buggy

Uhhh just because it has 8 cores doesn't mean it's fast. It's a very old processor at this point, and is likely holding back performance.

try performing a hard-reset ....it will reset the hardware but not touch the data..

want to install chrome os? here's how.

As much as a quarter of GPU usage compared to modern 8 cores? I don't think so

It's slow sure, but not that slow

The multicore cb score is still pretty good at 4.2

Yeah, I did a full reset of the PC when I installed my new GPU.

I've reinstalled games multiple times, I change quality settings but it doesn't help with performance at all haha.

I think it might just be time to switch over to a new CPU for a purely gaming focused setup haha.

What would be a good replacement for this if I am looking for purely gaming performance and some work related tasks? I've heard good things about the 3700x, would that be good?

i searched up 5960x running death stranding, doesnt look too bad

definitely not pinned 100% on all thread with low GPU usage

but if you want to upgrade, i wont stop you, the 3700x/10700k would be my pick, or wait for zen 3

Depends on budget, but I wouldn't get an AMD CPU until they release the 4000 series (few weeks).

Yeah, but I still think OP should get the most out of his hardware first, before deciding if he needs an upgrade

Unless he's not interested then that's fine

I would like to keep it, but I believe it's around 6 years old, that, the motherboard and the ram are from that time as well so pretty outdated haha.

I'll try to reset my hardware and see if that fixes it, which would be great : )

Okay, I'll wait at least for the 4000 series maybe.

But in general, how much would the 3700X outperform my current CPU for gaming and general productivity tasks? And would it pair well with the 2080 Super?

🤷🏻‍♂️ You'd have to check out some YouTube comparisons. It would pair well, yes.

Okay, so I set it up in pcpartpicker, and I am just wondering, would all of these components work well together for a modern day setup? And would the B550 Motherboard work with the Ryzen 4000 series if I decide to get it later down the line?

Yes, but we're so close to the 4000 series launch it really doesn't make sense to buy 3000 series now and upgrade later.

Yeah, I just decided to think about it and sleep on it and I'll probably wait haha.

I am just really bad at waiting.

But yeah, as long as those parts will work well with the Zen 3 chips, it should be fine, right?

Thanks though for all the help, I appreciate it!
