So I am going to be upgrading my system to 32gb of RAM, 2x16 kit... I have 4x8 Gskill Flare X but cant get it to boot with 4x8 installed even at stock settings and 100% cleared CMOS. I have already updated BIOS to latest revision as well, so need to upgrade to a 2x16 kit. Reason is I keep things open in the background and when playing intensive AAA games such as COD, I run into the 16gb limit and causes stutters and issues. I also plan to start video editing soon for some projects I do so having that extra buffer will be great.

Right now I am looking at getting: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KkqBD3/crucial-ballistix-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-bl2k16g36c16u4b

Do note, I do need semi low profile because of a 280mm rad/fans that barely fit with my current Flare X kit, so they will need to be 40mm or less. The Ballistic kit linked above is 39.17.mm. I think it basically comes down to this and a Corsair Vengeance LPX kit, but cant find them without the stupid cooling fan, so I think I am likely to be stuck with these.

Leave your suggestions down below.

Must have:

2x16gb 3600mhz CL 16

NO MORE than 40mm tall

ZERO RGB

What kit would you guys suggest? Full system specs in my signature.

I think the Crucial Ballistix kit is your best bet. I was going to link G.Skill's Ripjaws V kit, but that's 42mm in height, and there doesn't seem to be a Corsair Vengeance LPX kit available to suit your needs.

Your system not POSTing with the 4x8 config is kind of odd though, unless those two different kits really hate each other lol.

Have you tried Safe Boot, or disabling MemOK (though I'm not sure if that's a thing on the X570 Hero)?

Also, have you checked whether the 1 and 3 DIMM slots actually work, if you just install one of the kits in those slots?

Ive had the 4x8 in it before, was always really touchy and sometimes it would fail to post and would have to shut down, clear CMOS and start back up. So I know slots 1/3 work, or have worked in the past. Its a well known fact that Ryzen 3000 doesn't play well with 4x kits regardless. I would constantly get 0d errors with 4x in it. So instead of troubleshooting and playing further, just going to go the route of 2x16.

i agree with mateyyy, the ballistix are solid dimms. quite a few people on the internet say that the 3200c16 kits can be overclocked to 3600c16 reliably but i havent seen any real evidence for this. crucial says all their ram is e-die and that their manufacturing process is very consistent but i remain skeptical. would be worth looking into though, might save you a few bucks or something

topics i need help on:

Spoiler
