Should I buy OLED television system now or wait? Are they getting cheaper?

They are getting cheaper.

Be careful of OLED and burn in.  I have a C6 55 inch that is very burned in, and not just on corners where logos are, there are areas across the center of the screen that are damaged too.

I replaced it with a QLED from Samsung.  A decent picture (No, not OLED good) and no chance of burn in.

Supposedly the new LG OLED have upgraded screens and software to keep burn in at bay, but I thought I should let you know my experience with the technology

for what ?

pc gaming ?

console gaming ?

movie watching ?

anyway I also was wanting to buy LG oled for the instant response time and gsync with 120hz

but then after some research I  found it has some problems I can't pay a premium price to have

like the ABL (auto dimming) when a suddenly a scene becomes too bright (explosions for example) the tv automaticaly dims the screen to protect it

since oled can't handle long periods of high brightness

and 48" is still too big for a monitor (of course this isn't a problem if you want it for couch gaming and not on your desktop)

but then I saw there are TVs coming next year with newer tech like QD-OLED and maybe even on normal monitor sizes so I decided to wait

so my advice to you is to inform yourself about the technology before buying it

if ABL will not annoy you and you have no problem with big screen size then the lg 48cx is really worth the money

since LCDs can't get close to OLED picture quality

I still don't get the massive deal with OLED. Blacks are nice but unless you're watching movies constantly in HDR in a completely blacked out room an LED TV with lots of zones will be much more affordable

I have both a Samsung 65" Q90R and an LG 55" CX OLED, and there really is no comparison. The contrast and color volume from the OLED alone is enough to destroy pretty much any other LCD-based consumer TV. Sure, if you want something stupidly bright, the Q90R definitely wins there, but beyond that, OLED is superior.

In a dark room, with HDR content. I've watched OLED TVs they're not amazing the people who pay the stupid price tag just have rose tinted glasses on.

I paid significantly more for the Q90R than I did the CX OLED. Why would I be "defending" a cheaper product if I didn't think it was better?

And, if the content is right, HDR on the CX OLED is absolutely jaw dropping.

I’ve had a string of high end LCD TV’s and this year went OLED. For movie watching I wouldn’t go back to LCD. LG C9 is brilliant. It doesn’t have the peak brightness of some of the previous TVs but overall the picture is more pleasing. Having Dolby Vision adds a little something too

It's not though, it's nice but it is no way game changing. I'd rather be able to see it in the day.

This isn't Plasma. OLED gets plenty bright for a bright room. That's where mine is.

Where HDR is pretty much none existent and the blacks don’t matter

Last I checked, night time is also a thing. It's obvious you hate OLED, and I understand that, but try and be at least a tiny bit reasonable.

They are not getting cheaper since the 2020 versions are about the same as the 2019 versions.

Wait for black Friday. That is when they will be the cheapest.
