advice on selling GPU?

Derrk

I have a 1080ti and plan to upgrade to a 3070 when they release, (might wait for AIB cards, but depends on advice)

currently based on ebay prices, a 1080ti can sell for ~$350 USD, but i expect those prices to drop after nvidia 3000 series launches.
I'd like to get as much as i can for the 1080ti, but since I'm using a 2700x, i need a gpu to run my pc. I need my pc, and can't rely on just a laptop for work.

My current thoughts are selling my gpu now and buying a cheap gpu off amazon (possibly returning it later), or just holding my gpu until 3070 releases, and losing whatever extra money i could make.
thoughts?

no matter what we are at a loss right now I think.
I am going to TRY <<< HEAVY EMPHASIS to upgrade to a 30 Series as well and sell off my 5700xt (Which is actually a Surprisingly Punchy Card). But I do NOT Expect to get what I paid for it, whatever I say, I'll sell it for $150 to a kid who needs it, 2020's been hard and people deserve it.

I'm just gonna wait till I Have a new GPU in my hands before I do anything, as its speculated that it will be harder than hell to actually get one.

Lol if I didn’t buy my gtx 1660 super a few weeks ago I would have bought your 5700xt for 150 usd......

Good point. i doubt i could get a 3070 at launch, and its one reason why i'm waiting for AIBs.

Moneys been tough for everyone lately, if there's a market willing to pay 350, i'm willing to take it. I couldn't buy a 3070 without selling my current gpu right now, but like you said 2020 s been a rough ride. I want to spoil myself a little 😅

Just keep using the card for now. It's not going to lose the value of a new GPU worth of value in a few months time. People already know the next gen is coming, it's not like it's going to be a surprise.

yeah dude, the last thing you'd wanna do is sell yours off and get something cheap second-hand that might not work and have to go get your moneyback SEGUE!

Speaking of things that we paid for but don't work! If our congressman would get their acts together we'd HAVE money for a GPU. But I digress.

Sell it right now and just get a cheap placeholder that you can use as a backup if ever needed to. I luckily just sold my 1080 ti for an 'okay' price.
