Budget (including currency): AUD$2,800 (~USD$2,000)

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Flight Simulator 2020, GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, etc. Maybe VR at some point.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Have a 1440p, 75Hz monitor. Not wanting to upgrade the monitor anytime soon. Wanting to play games at 1440p on highest settings. Ideally would purchase everything in October to have by start of November.

This would be a first build for me and was wondering if anyone had any advice about my proposed parts list, whether I have picked suitable parts which work well with each other, and whether I have made any rookie mistakes? I have tried to do as much research as possible but appreciate the help in making sure I've done everything properly. I would appreciate feedback on the parts list and whether I have picked any parts which aren't a great value for their prices.

I also have a few questions that I would appreciate some help with.

- The system would only be used for gaming. Am very unlikely to use it for streaming or video editing. In that case, would AMD still be the better option? My reasoning for choosing AMD at this stage is that my understanding that games are starting to utilise more cores. I also figured that it is better to have more cores than not incase I find myself needing them. If you think Intel may be better, could you please recommend a CPU and motherboard that fits in with this build?

- If going with AMD, am planning to wait until October 8 for the 4000 series launch/announcement (Assuming that date is correct). I would then pick the equivalent 4000 series Ryzen 7 CPU.

- My understanding is that the Nvidia 3000 series founders editions cards aren't going to be available in Australia, so the 3080 I'll get is whichever partner has one to sell in Australia first. Should I try to prioritise a specific partner or does it not make much difference?

- My plan is to populate 2 out of 4 of the Ram slots at this stage and then purchase an additional 2x 8GB sticks down the line. Is there any benefits in using quad channel over dual channel? Also, my understanding is that 16GB is sufficient for gaming, is that correct?

- How do I know that there is enough places on the motherboard for front I/O and fans to connect to?

- In terms of air flow, I was thinking of having 2 intake fans with the radiator at the front, and have 2 exhaust fans, one at the back, and 1 at the top. Is this fine?

Would also appreciate any recommendations for mouse and keyboard, upto AUD$150 (~USD$110)

I see no problem there. Probably the PSU, you may want to use popular brand like corsair / seasonic, the mod cable are easier to find.

The RTX hasn't been sold yet, how it get listed?
