Hi guys, I recently purchased a lenovo legion laptop, it has a 128 GBs nvme SSD as a primary drive (windows) + 1 TBs @5400rpm HDD. A friend of mine gave me an 512 GBs 970 EVO Plus samsung nvme SSD as a birthday gift, this laptop has 2 m.2 slots so my question is:

-Should I replace the 128 GBs nvme with the 512 GBs evo plus nvme and stay with the 1 TB hdd as a general storage. (512 SSD for OS + 1 TB HDD Storage)

or

-Should I replace the 1 TBs HDD with the 512 GBs evo plus nvme for storage and stay with the 128 GBs nvme SSD for the OS (128 GBs SSD for OS + 512 GBs SSD for storage)

Only you can know the answer to this - how much space are you using right now, and how much might you need in future?

For me, in the slightly "for" column, would be the small improvement to battery life by not having a spinning disk.

Right now on the SSD 55 GBs only with windows + drivers + etc - The HDD 300+ GBs on games, I run most of the games on the HDD for the lack of space on the primary.

That's up to you. Do you need the additional space? Stay with the HDD. Do you need speed and space is not an issue? Combine the SSDs. You could always keep the HDD as external storage, just buy a USB enclosure.

An additional plus in a laptop might be that an HDD might get more easily damaged during transport, while an SSD is more robust.

This is what i wouldve done. I cannot tell you what to do. (Nobody can ;))
But i would try and find a USB case for the other NVME nd use it as a super fast USB drive.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
