Does this Mini ITX build make sense/compatible?

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: An all around PC with a focus on gaming. Will be playing Triple A games, LOL, rogue Company, Fallguys (lol).

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 1440p 144hz On high Gsync 80fps is fine

 

I'm building this PC as an upgrade and giving my wife my current PC for work and her needs. I've never done mini ITX and don't understand it fully so I'm hoping I can get some help here to make sure everything in the parts list makes sense. I will be using my 1070ti with this build until I can get my hands on a 3070. I'm only worried because the note I am getting from pcpartpicker is this: "NZXT H210 Mini ITX Tower Case has a front panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port, but the Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard does not have sufficient USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Gen 1 headers. Thank you, yeah I didn't really understand that note. I'm not seeing many options for motherboards honestly. Can i ask what's the pros/cons of going mini-atx? I honestly decided I wanted to do it last minute because it looks nice to have something that small. Gonna use stock cooler I think I don't want to overclock. This build should be just hook it up and it's good to go. I'm looking to use my 1070ti until I purchase a 3070 or 3060. 

 

With the PSU I'm having a hard time picking one because I've heard people say to go with different PSU's. I liked the idea of the NZXT 10 year warranty and it goes with the case. Since you're mostly gaming, it might be better to go for 2x8gb ram and put that money towards something else. Maybe more storage or save it for when you upgrade your GPU.

There usually is only one ITX board per manufacture. But these would have USB C, the Asus B500I would be my first choice:

Mini ITX boards are great, 90% of users will lose nothing by going ITX over, ATX, or even mATX. Really you just lose a 2nd PCIe 16x slot and 1-2 PCIe 8x slots, and you usually only get 4-6 Sata ports. But ITX boards are usually very feature rich. You get built in Wi-fi, most have 2 NVME drive slots, plus more. There is not much the average user gives up at all.

I accidentally misread the model, the NZXT C Series is actually pretty solid overall, so I would stick with it or the Corsair TXm. Refer to this list (tierA):

Ok, I won't be needing anything more I feel that the build I made is more than enough and will last many years.

I understand, My biggest worry right now is that a 3070 or future 3060 won't fit in the case or MOBO, is there anyway to know? It says the 1070ti will fit fine I would assume the 3070/3060 would as well.

I find the Asus boards a lot easier to work with in terms of bios and overall features, I've never had a build quality issue either.

That Superflower unit is also really good, especially for the price (also Tier A). Up to you really, if you want the piece of mind that should you need to use your warranty it will be an easy process then go for the NZXT unit. Reality is you likely will not use the warranty but there is no guarantee of course. Otherwise both are quality units.

Motherboard has no bearing on GPU size, so no concern here. And as long as you don't put a 240mm AIO in that case a you should be able to find a GPU that fits in length. Just use PCpartpicker when you are ready to buy as the expansion slot width would be the only limiting factor, but I am certain there will be models that will fit.

You give up VRM performance and a few others as well. No active chipset cooling, only 2 fan headers etc. If you want too keep this system for a while a better motherboard is a better investment IMO.

This would work perfectly but if you go with your motherboard choice you will need a 4-1 PWM fan splitter. Yeah better overall, only 2 fan headers as well. You'll just need a PWM fan hub that supports up to 4 fans. The included case fans are just DC though so running them in PWM mode may damage them in the long run, I've never tried mixing DC with PWM so I am not sure on this.

I was just worried being such a small and tight space it would have cooling issues. Doesn't look as tight as I thought after watching a similar build. He did a water cooler for the cpu which didn't seem a bad route either. NZXT one.

No ITX board has 4 fan headers (at least that I've seen), but the Asus B550I has 3. So you would still need the fan splitters you linked previously, but not a larer fan hub.

The H210 does not offer the best cooling thanks to the font panel design but it is not terrible, there are better ITX options that are smaller and offer better airflow. The 3600 is not a hot CPU though so although a tower cooler may be a good idea you should still have good thermals overall with 2 front intake fans and 2 exhaust. And AIO is not necessary for your CPU and you severely limit GPU sizes.

Yeah an ITX build with sleeved extensions is a no go. Cablemod would be a great option for new custom sleeved cables. I have a set in my H210 build. 

 

Option 2. Are you willing to sleeve yourself? No soldering or crimping required. It just takes time and you can use your existing cables.

I contacted cablemod...unfortunately they don't have a set for my PSU that is compatible! I wouldn't mind sleeving myself but it looks difficult to take the wire pin out with staples but I mean doesn't look difficult just time consuming. I'm assuming I would just re-sleeve the stock cables that came with PSU?

Ahhh that's to bad, that would be the quick and easy route. 

 

Yeah you would use your existing cables and sleeve then so there would be a big cost savings. It is not hard but it is time consuming, that said you could probably get them all done within 2hrs.

Yeah you would use your existing cables and sleeve then so there would be a big cost savings. It is not hard but it is time consuming, that said you could probably get them all done within 2hrs.
