What processor should I look for in a laptop?

I really want to buy a 2 in 1 laptop, but I really don't know where to look, what brand to go with, or anything like that. My budget is anything under $2000 USD, but more preferably under $1500. I know I want at least the modern basics: 1080p 60Hz, 15 inches, backlit keyboard, SSD, decent screen quality, and so on. I've heard Linus rave about the new Ryzen 4000 laptop CPUs being really great for both performance and battery life. Anyway, i have a few questions.

First, how do I know what CPU I should buy in a laptop?

Second, how do I know if I'll ever need a dedicated gpu in my laptop?

Yeh like @jaslion said. What things are you going to be using this laptop to do. What size SSD would you like. Do you want to game or just do the average stuff, browse the web etc?

I'll be doing school work, photo editing, programming/coding, and some light gaming. Probably nothing intensive, I have a nice desktop for hardcore gaming.

Ah ok, anything that Quad Core should be fine. If you can find one with dedicated graphics like a Nvidia MX, would be nicer. But not a must

Just get the enxy x360 with the an amd ryzen 4000 cpu then. Would do the trick for you. It's 800$ for the base model.
