Im planning on buying a rtx3070 but i dont know what i need to upgrade, im playing on 1080p 144hz

Ive been told my psu could blow my pc up so i think thats a start :S

I really need to replace that corsair vs right now or i could wait? any recommendations?

Will my cpu bottleneck the gpu too much? I can wait for the 3060's if so

thanks!

Definitely need a better PSU.

If your playing at 1080p... I wouldn't even get a 3070. Thats trying to kill an ant with a nuke. I would wait to see what the 3060 looks like and get that. If the stack rolls out like the top 3 cards do, the 3060 will likely be a 2070 super or 2080 performance for 399. For 1080p............... thats a LOT of power.

Howdy and welcome :)

Won’t matter till maybe October.  That’s when 3070s will apparently be one shelves.  Nvidia is apparently taking applications to be informed when preorder might start.  Apparently not yet though.

There are 3 systems that could have an affect on sale prices still under wraps that will be announced about that time.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

And yes, your CPU will bottleneck it. But..... realistically any CPU besides a 10900k is a bottleneck, so that isn't really "a concern". It will be fine enough :)

Get a new PSU when you upgrade. If you want 1080p 144hz, a 3070 is probably overkill in most games, so I'd wait for the 3060 to save some cash.

If you go with a 3070 I'd upgrade to a 3600 or a zen 3 cpu

PC

Ryzen 5 2600 Stock

Sapphire Nitro+ Special Edition Radeon RX580 8GB (Would Recommend)

Gigabyte B450M DS3H (Don't recommend)

Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition

Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15

Phanteks P300 (Would Recommend)

Kingston A400 240GB SSD

Seagate BarraCuda 1TB HDD

Corsair CX550M 550W  80+ Bronze

Deepcool FH-10 Fan Hub

3x BeQuiet Pure Wings 2

Peripherals

LG 24MK400H

Logitech G413 Carbon

Logitech G305 (AAA Adaptor - 10g reduction) (Would recommend)

Logitech Z150

HyperX Cloud II (Would recommend)

Moto G5 Plus (Webcam)

Phone

Pixel 3A XL (Would recommend)

Have a look at the PSU tier list in the PSU subforum and aim for a B or A tier unit
