My friends computer won't start up after trying to update windows

Me and my friend tried to update an old laptop of his, and after starting the windows 10 update, the screen just went black. we have tried to plug it in, start it, but nothing seems to work, could you guys maybe look for some solutions?

Maybe a hard reset? Can you get into the bios to run some hardware tests?

No, we can’t even get it to turn on, it just blinks 5 times where it shows if it is off or on and then... nothing

do you see the splash screen at least? (the laptop manufacturer brand logo, normally)

or literally no response when power button is pushed?

it most probably died

 

but you can try removing the hard disk, see if it posts

or removing the battery (make sure laptop is plugged in and receiving charge)

if it doesn't, try re-seating the RAM(s), and try each stick in each slot, 1 by 1 if there're multiple stick/slots.

How do I do that? I only have experience in desktops

are you comfortable opening up the laptop?

look up youtube on the laptop's model's disassembly guide. hard disk and RAM should be easy to access on mode models.
