odd adapter

Hello,

 

i want to replace my odd in mij laptop with an ssd, however there is an adapter between it and i am afraid it might bottle-neck my ssd.

Is there anyone who knows what this is?

That looks like an IDE connector...

I don't think you can put an SSD in the ODD, since the connector is different they way it transfers data may be different than the way that an ssd does. I  can look for an adapter.

Its not an adapter. Its an IDE drive. Is there a point in 'upgrading' such a old laptop?

errr thats not a sata port so i wouldnt put an SSD in there

This is how the other side of the adapter going into the odd looks like. 

The pc is about 3 years old and includes:

     -I7 640m

     -mobility radeon hd 5650m

I would be really disapointed if i cant put a hdd-caddy in there 

 

 

 

here you can see the side of the adapter going into te mobo of the laptop compared to an old ide drive. As you see they dont fit so i dont think its ide....

 

 

Im just a newbie so please tell me if i am wrong ^^
