Hi! I need to connect 3x8 pin cables to my GPU. However with my PSU there were two 6+2 cables provded. Can I connect it like that with one 8pin cable just hanging not connected? I have also some other 8pin cable from that PSU but there is "CPU" written on it.  Can I use it alternatively? Thx.

That will depend on WHAT/WHICH graphics card this is.

Some cards, the third PCI-E power connector can be optional (e.g. for extreme overclocking), while it is mandatory for others -- there is a SENSE pin on the header.

No, that 8-pin connector (8-pin EPS power connector) is strictly for the CPU via motherboard header.

It is keyed differently SPECIFICALLY so people can't do what you are trying to do -- either on purpose or by mistake.
