I’m building an emulation machine for my dad, and was looking for some feedback on my planned pc.

He wants to run old arcade games, but also new games, mainly Mortal Kombat 11 and Street Fighter V. This will be my first pc build, so I want to be confident before I start buying parts. I tried to keep it budget since my dad is paying for it. Will this run the desired games and is there anything I should do differently?

If you are emulating anything, keep in mind that the only part that matters is the CPU single-threaded performance. The GPU, the number of CPU cores, and so forth do not matter at all to MAME or any other emulator, and at best you can run filters/scalers on the GPU. So I would focus on the recommended requirements for Street Fighter V/MK11.

Wdym by single threaded performance? Also I went with a bit higher than the MK11/SFV requirements.

Here is the fixed link.

In case that link doesn’t work either, I went with the

Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor

Basically what I'm saying is that if you want to know if one CPU is better than another for gaming, the one with the higher single thread rating is always going to be the number to compare. The cross-platform rating is meaningless for games as games need to be designed around using all the cpu cores, and all current console games are designed around 8 threads, while all previous generation games were designed around 2-3 threads. So unless the game explicitly calls out needing 6/8/10/12/16 cores for some reason (and I'm not aware of any) it's safe to assume that any games released in the last 5 years will work fine on anything with 4 cores or better, so just look at the single-thread rating, as the single thread rating is the highest performance the individual core can deliver.
