Hey everyone, I have this option CMW16GX4M1Z3600C18 and this option

AX4U320038G16A-DT60

Which one Should I get? I like the rgb of the XPG more and its a bit cheaper but 3200 MHz. Can I overclock the XPG to 3600MHz? And If I go Corsair Can I go 3600 MHz CL16? As I heard The Corsair has Hynix C Die while The XPG has Hynix M die. They are both just about the same price which one?

3200mhz CL16 and 3600mhz CL18 are exactly the same, the extra latency on the 3600mhz kit cancels out the extra speed. However RAM can be overclocked and latency reduced so you could get the cheaper kit with the RGB that you like, OC to 3600 and make it CL15 or 14 maybe. This all obviously depends on your VRM solution and your luck in the silicone lottery. I would honestly be wiling to take the gamble since it's cheaper, and at the end of the day if it doesn't work, the difference between 3200 CL16 and 3600 CL18 is literally non-existent so you didn't lose any performance and saved a bit of money

EDIT: I wouldn't personally recommend reducing latency AND OC-ing the clock speed because you don't want to risk killing your RAM but i'm saying that it's possible so maybe just get the cheaper RAM and OC to 3600 while keeping the latency at CL16. Which means you got better performance for cheaper

EDIT 2: If you're on Intel make sure your board is a Z series to avoid losing your warranty as i believe that issue is still ongoing

They'll both perform similarly in terms of latency.

Are you limited to these?

But to answer your question.

You technically can manually overclock it it's just we don't know how far you can go and at what timings. Only way to know is to try  test.

We don't know, only way to know if to try and test.

As far as I know on Ryzen builds Frequency is superior to latency though right?

both are very important, the 3600c18 is marginally better due to fclk ram scaling.

Oh and Im not limited to these just the ones I like

well there are a lot of better alternatives lol

Spoiler

my "oops i bought intel right before zen 3 releases" build

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (placeholder)

GPU: Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme (also placeholder), deshroud w/ generic 1200rpm 120mm fans x2, stock bios 130% power, no voltage offset: +70 core +400 mem

Memory: 2x16gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3600C16, 14-15-30-288@1.45v

Backup Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 4TB

PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750W w/ black/white Cablemod extensions
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark (to be replaced with a good case shortly)

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

3600mhz cl18 3 dollars more expensive So Im going with 3600 CL18 and hoping for CL16

That's probably the best choice, I personally wouldn't give it a second thought and get the higher speed and just reduce the timings if it's only 3 dollars

Can you suggest me some around 100 usd?

anything here if you wanna max out your budget. 3200cl14 is b die and will oc very well. i'm running my r5 3600 with b die at 3600c14 and its remarkably fast in memory intensive workloads (about 20-30% for me)

I can only afford the first two on this list in my country. RGB rams are super expensive here in Turkey but its worth it. The first two gskill rams are around 80$

@TofuHarotoWhat is the difference between these two? CMW16GX4M2D3600C18 - CMW16GX4M1Z3600C18

Then first code is 20$ more expensive although they both have 3600 mhz cl16 xmp values. A person got micron E die from the first code and achieved 4666 mhz cl18. I don’t know the chip on the second one but its probably hynix cjr. Is the only difference between these two the chips? Is there a possibly for me to get micron E die on the cheaper one? How can I understand the difference?

honestly both seems like Hynix MFR or something similar, i would go with a 3600 cl16 kit or a 3200 cl16/14 kit, and as for overclocking as i said..

As Far As I know non of those have MFR worst case scenerio would be CJR the guy literally achieved 4666 mhz cl18 thats insane 3200 cl16 and 3600 cl18 kit price difference is only 5 dollars so im not gonna get 3200 cl16 - 3600 cl18 makes more sense

as i said, even if they use the same IC's, they will have different capabilities so don't expect the same results, there are more than one thing that affect memory overclocking.

but if you're limited to a 3600 cl18 or a 3200 cl16 kit, they'll perform similarly, as for manual overclocking, we don't know, only way to know is to test..
