Hertz question

So basically my monitor is 1366x768 resolution and its old, i have a newer graphics card and i don't have the same port. To fix this problem i had a cable and my nvidia control panel was recognizing it as 1366x768 and when i lower it to 1024x768 i could put it to 75 hertz which was perfect for csgo. Now the cable died and i have a new adapter which it makes my nvidia control panel recognize it as 1024x768 native and when i lower it i can't put it to 75 hertz. Is there a way to fix this, like adjust the native resolution or something. Thank you in advance

Not much of a point if your monitor can't support higher than 60Hz which if your monitor is 1366x768, it most certainty would be limited to 60Hz.

I'm sorry but i really didn't understand you, what do you mean by that?

Every monitor has a maximum refresh rate it can support. For most monitors, this would be 60Hz. In very simplified terms, it can only display up to 60 FPS. So forcing your GPU to output 75Hz isn't going to make a difference because your system can still only display a maximum of 60Hz or 60 FPS. 

If your monitor is very old, it most certainly would only support 60Hz. If you can provide us with the make and model, we can definitively tell you if that's the case.
