I have a Asus RTX 2060 GPU which I been using for al little over a year now without any problems. I have it at stop setting no oc, no custom fan curves nothing. Today I launched Red Dead Redemption 2 and entered the game. After about 40 seconds both of my monitors said there was no more video input so I restarted my pc. I did the same thing again and the same thing happened but this time I noticed that my GPU fans had maxed out, I could tell by the sound, it might have happened the first time without me realizing. By this point I had realized something was wrong and launched HWINFO64 and task manager before the game to see if anything out of the ordinary was happening. This time the game ran find and nothing out of the ordinary happened. I want to know if this is something I should be worried about, or if it is a one time occurrence. Thanks for the help.

When I ran with HWINFO64 open it maxed just above 60 degrees with the game open with fans at around 1k rpm. At idle it sits around 50 degrees, but this is without the fans on.

Full specs are in my bio, but the importants are: Ryzen 7 1700, RTX 2060, 32gb RAM, 500w Corsair PSU, MSI Tomahawk b350 motherboard

You listed "Cooler Master 550W 80+ Gold" in your bio. Which one is it, and what exact model? (V550, MWE Gold 550W, CX500, etc)

I'm starting to get worried... it just happened a fourth time. I was just watching a video on YouTube. Maybe it is a problem with Firefox, because it was open in the background the first two times. I was still able to hear the YouTube video playing when the screen turned off. I'm giong to stop using my computer for a while and come back later so I don't risk damaging the GPU unnecessarily.

Happened again. This time while I was playing Monster Hunter World. I had HWINFO logging info the whole time but it didn't seem to be able to log once the screen turned off. This time when I restarted I got a message saying "PLEASE POWER DOWN AND CONNECT THE PIEe POWER CABLE(S) FOR THIS GRAPHICS CARD". Both the cables are plugged in so I tried just restarting. After restarting again I was able to get in. I'm going to try re-plugging in the power cables for the GPU. I attached the HWINFO log encase maybe there is important info there.

I think I fixed it. My GPU has little lights next to each power cord that turn on if it is plugged in correctly. After opening the side panel I realized that the light next the the 8 pin plug was turned off. After taking out and plugging back in both of the connectors both the lights turned on when I powerd on the psu. The first time I started up it went to the windows recovery screen, but after restarting it booted normally. I do not know what have caused the connector to become loose or unplugged as I have not recently went into the pc. I guess it just happened over time and finally disconnected enough to where my gpu wasn't getting significant enough power to run. I have yet to have another crash but it has only been a couple minutes. I will update if I get any more crashes.

Well it turns out I was wrong. Same crash happened again while play Monster Hunter World. The lights for both the power connectors were on when it happned. When I restarted the light for the 8pin connector turned red meaning it wasn't getting power then turned back to white so maybe it is something with that. I wasn't able to get it to post and the mother board had the vga error light on but after restarting twice it worked. Is this a gpu problem, a psu problem, or maybe a problem with the psu cable?

Switch the 8 pin cable with a different one and stress test your system. You can try these:

1. If it happens again, use a different PSU port.

2. Clean your drivers and reinstall them.

3. Try with a different PSU from a friend.

If none of the options above fix it, then I'll just assume it's a GPU problem.

Someone on reddit recommended I use ddu and uninstall my gpu drivers and reinstall them. Could this fix it or would doing it be unecessary
