I plan to have my monitors setup as follows;

DVI - DVI

Active DP - DVI

And I am unsure about the next one, my graphics card is the 280x Toxic by Sapphire, I was considering using HDMI to DVI-D but last time I used HDMI on my pc to monitor it created black bars around my monitor?

Will my graphics card/monitor recognise this cable as DVI because I really dont want to be running a 3 monitor setup with 1 monitor having black bars.

Thanks,

Cian

It turns out that the reason my HDMI wasn't covering up my whole monitor was that in CCC scaling was at 15%? once I turned that down to 0%, the black bars went away, so what im asking is, can you use eyefinity with one connection being just HDMI? and the others being DVI and DP ofcourse,

Thanks,

Cian.

I don't know why people didn't jump to the "under-scale and over-scale" options in CCC first...instead of saying faulty HDMI cable.

Yes, you can have one connection being natively HDMI. As long as one of the three monitors is connected via the DisplayPort, you are okay to go.

HDMI and DVI are both essentially the exact same thing; both digital. HDMI is simply

  • more compact (physical connector size)
  • passes audio through the HDMI header (instead of needing to connect a separate audio cable)
