Hi I’m recent heaving problems with my i9-9900k CPU temperature it is going up by 1c every second up to 80-90c. This happened after I replace my old Power supply due to power in my house going off and the old power supply going dead. That’s why I bought a new one and replace it. But during the old one i am having a stock temperature of my i9-9900k to 28c-35c. But after replacing my power supply and plugging in everything perfectly I am having a CPU temp problem is like my cooler is not even there to cool it off.

Processor: i9-9900k

 

GPU: GTX EVGA 1080Ti FTW3

 

motherboard: ASUS Maximus XI HERO Z390 (WiFi) edition

 

RAM: GSkillz 32GB 3200hmz

 

Cooler: NZXT Kraken 52x

 

SSD: Samsung PRO 970 Nvme m.2

What cooler do you have? I don't know how to read.

 

Did you try giving the screws a smidge tightening or remounting all together?

 

Did you remember to plug the pump back in?

Yes I replug everything and tighten the screws and everything but My cpu temp starts at 28c and goes up to 90c stock goes up by 1c every second and it’s like the cooler is not even there

If the cooler wasn't there it'd go up faster than that but about 1°C every second sounds about right for a properly mounted block without coolant flow.

 

Have you tried powering the pump independent of the system? Can you hear it? Feel it?

No I haven’t try powering it up independently and how do you hear and feel the cooler?

This all happened after my old PSU died on me after power in my house went off and tried turning on my computer but won’t give any power that’s why I bought new PSU this might even be a power surge problem I don’t know.

It's a watercooler is it not? Pump has to move the fluid. If you can turn the pump on independent of the system by such means as a spare PSU you should be able to hear the impeller, any bubles moving through it, and/or at the least feel the block vibrating. If none of these occur you may have a dead pump.

When a PSU fails it can sometimes take other hardware with it. Although I haven't exactly heard of a PSU killing a AIO I see no reason why it couldn't.

When a PSU fails it can sometimes take other hardware with it. Although I haven't exactly heard of a PSU killing a AIO I see no reason why it couldn't.

I can feel a little vibration but my CPU keeps going to 30-40-50-60-70 till it reaches 90 and I turn it off cause I’m scared to break my CPU

Yeah, you need to turn the cooler on independent of the rest of the system. Vibration from other fans can make you think it's working.

 

This seems less likely but did you check your CPU voltages? There's no reason they should have changed on their own but you can try resetting CMOS. It's a bit of a rabbit hole solution though.

I’ve tried resetting CMOS still they same it’s probably my Cooler is the problem but I don’t know how to check if my pump is working or not

Do you have a spare PSU around?

What you can do is disconnect every internal power cable from the PSU except the 20+4 pin and a SATA going to the 52X. Remove the 24-pin from the board and short the only green wire to any black wire. This will trigger the PSU on. Then see if you can hear/feel the pump with no fan noise or other sources causing vibration.
