140+10$ shipping I can't imagine why you would buy a used 7850 for gaming when a 750TI is only 150$ new.

those cards are going to have a hard life. Though it should have at least a year (or two?) left on the warranty.

not even, if you haven't experienced it yourself you won't realize how annoying it is. Not even close to OCD.

I have, I don't really care really but I am sometimes scared its gonna break

It depends on how severe. How can you honestly say that the old legendary Asus sag isn't annoying?

Some of the old DCU bricks look like they could snap a PCI slot if you tapped the computer wrong.

*shrug* money made right? I wouldn't complain lol. Maybe they wanted some scapegoat GPUs to do some sorta fancy testing.

Murica!!!

The same can be said for cars........

Just look at the Miata, every generation it keeps getting bigger to keep up with fatter Americans I think lol. I think cars hit a minimum size between the late 80's and early 90's.

Not to mention comfort and safety

Getting bigger for more comfort goes along with the america getting fatter deal. Safety, large size doesn't always equate to safety as many suvs have proved over the years, but in all Cars have gotten much safer in the last 10 yrs and that is is a good thing because drivers seem to pay a lot less attention to actually driving now.

True but...

Small cars are often (not all) uncomfortable for people over 5-7, so to include a larger market they make them larger. Also doesn't take into account lifestyle where, you may need the room for other passengers and cargo. You could also make the argument that cars got smaller as people got fatter, and then cars got larger again.

The large size doesn't equal safety sure, there is a point at which the size of the vehicle can actually make it more dangerous. Your original assumption also ignores the speeds cars travel at and the lack durable construction. Cars have become safer because of engineering, and size and weight has increased along with safety.

So while the fattening of the population can and has impacted car design, on an overall whole, vehicle safety and relative comfort has had a greater impact.

FWIW I like small cars and prefer driving them and I am over 5-7.

People in my class beat the living shit out of their printer and never maintain and inspect it, then complain that they have a piece-of-shit printer.

On the contrary, I run the cleaning cycle on my printer weekly to prevent print head clogs, every week I check to make sure that there is nothing blocking the print head track, and every two weeks when I print something I bypass the lid sensor and hold a flashlight while watching the print head move to make sure that nothing is abnormal. A jam just occurred where the paper failed to continue along the path, and while I was pulling it out one of the rollers was moving slowly and the print head suddenly came out of the parking area and made an AWFUL shredding noise as it tried to pass a jumbled mass of paper that was in the way. I pushed it back to the parking zone and locked it there. After the jam was cleared, I did a five-point inspection. It consisted of a check on the paper-entry wheel, the print-head path, the print head itself, the locking area for the print head, and finally the back door.

My Brother MFC-885CW is turning 7 soon. Some people that I know have printers that are 2 years old that run worse than mine because their family is tech-illiterate and just abuses their hardware to it's breaking point and complained that they bought bullshit. My hardware probably receives the best treatment out of all of the students in my class. I also never click on random shit and NEVER watch porn, which we all know can cause viruses. If you are the only techie in your family I pity you and may God be with you in your horrors.

Thank you for reading my rant. :)

On another note, do you think you can use one of these in a water cooling loop?

Radiator_Vassar_0287_DJFs.jpg

It would make a very good heater during the winter, but theoretically I don't think it is possible, can somebody please tell me how hot water in a PC loop gets during operation?

  • 2 weeks later...

I skipped gym to help out the IT admin today in his room.

I was talking to him and he was telling me about the BADASS RAID array in our school. We have two servers, with the main running RAID 5 and the second running RAID 3. While he was talking about it he was like "Wait why am I explaining this to you?" because that apparently is classified information.

Being the #1 techie in school has it's perks. :)

I didn't know what sudo meant before you posted that link. Now whenever I want something and the other person says no I will ask again and put sudo before it.
