Hi guys

New to these forums. Hoping to get an answer to this question.

Does anyone know if a 8800GTS is compatible with X570 Tomahawk Motherboard?

I am wanting to get started with my first build (since 2007) when I stopped using a PC. Hence the reason for having a 8800GTS picking up dust.

I am thinking of buying a AMD Ryzen 3600 to get my build started while waiting for Zen 3 and Nvidia 3000 Series.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Technically it should work. The latest W10 drivers for that card is from 2016, so you might experience some software related issues.

Thank you very much for the advice and taking time to read through my post. This maybe a dumb question but should I be able to plug it into the motherboard and download drivers from that system or will I not be able to get a display without them and need to set up on a second computer?

You can plug it in and have it run without drivers at lower resolution. Installing drivers will make sure you can get higher resolution and full performance out of that card. Drivers are needed for operating system.

Thanks mate. Just want the cheapest option to test my parts and have something running while I wait as I have heard that availability will suck. Especially concerned for zen 3 as they haven’t even announced the release date yet.

Rumors for that are that they'll release it by November for the holidays.
