Anyone knows where to find some micro CPU blocks? With micro I mean small thing where water is. It would be best if it has AMD mounting. I need it to mod the mounting mechanism and put it in my laptop which i'm upgrading and watercooling. The laptop will be open so water block can be tall, I just need it to be wide, cause my mounting screws are pretty close to each other.

You're looking for a generic waterblock like the ones Linus and the gang used/made for their network switches.

They come in all kinds of sizes and shapes so you need to first measure the die/area you are looking to cool.

Nah, maby classic ones so I can just drill a hole into a metal and screw it in

I kinda care about aesthetics cause laptop will be sitting on my desk underneath my wall mounted monitors and I really don't need that much of an airflow, I will be using 45W TDP processor so I was thinking maby something like this? Maby even smaller, I have 4.3x4.3cm so will it fit?

A laptop's cpu socket and mounting holes is VASTLY different from a desktop part. The actual die is usually completely exposed with no IHS like you see on desktop cpu's

That monster block will most likely not fit at all and interfere with all kinds of other components and even if you can fit it there is a good chance to crack the cpu die.

I'd argue that a block with outlets on the side would make for better aesthetics since you wont need to raise the laptop a huge amount to fit the tubing.

Have you considered mounting the block to the heatpipes with thermal glue instead of directly onto the cpu die?

What is your laptop model number? do you have a picture of the CPU area?

Ps. I bought that block on amazon and it was kinda crap, the mounting bracket was so weak it bent from finger tightening it and lost its mounting pressure

For mounting I would saw original mounting mechanism from CPU block and drill holes close to actual block. I would use original screws that came with my laptop so I wouldn't have compatibility issues. I would use liwuid metal and I won't screw it very tightly so I wouldn't hurt actual die.

My laptop opens by lifting the keyboard so it would fit perfectly.

My laptop is HP ProBook 4720s and I will equip it with i7-840qm, the best 1st gen mobile CPU that is not special edition, so it consumes only 45W and not 55W like special editions do.

I currently have i5-480m which has 25W TDP so I have to get better cooler.

In middle (big block) is CPU, small block is GPU (which I will underclock to 200mhz, I will have an eGPU)

Do you still have that crap cpu block? If yes, can you tell me all measurements (mounting bracket, actual block)?

Mounting plate is 103x62mm

Cold plate is 49x49mm

Top where the tubes connect is 54x54mm

Also its a bad idea broski, don't do it!

Buy a 30x60mm block, mount it on top of the existing setup with thermal epoxy to the heatpipe and you'll have a way better result and cooling for the Gpu also.

Alright, block is a couple mm to big, but if I would cool CPU and GPU with one large water block it would be perfect. I wouldn't screw it in, could just epoxy it.

Something like this?

Are you aware that monoblocks are not one big flat cooling plate?  They have troughs and shelfs specifically designed for a certain motherboard and socket.

Oh, I thought it is one big cooling plate

I think you need to go back to the drawing board and really have a think about this a bit more carefully. See some other threads where people have just flown water through the heat pipe, for example.

Ok but what if I just attach one giant heatsink on a cpu and go with air cooling?

Bro we've given you actual usable ideas but every time you have your own thoughts of what you really want. We keep telling you that its not going to be easy or practical or even work and then you come up with another idea again.

Lets not forget you are talking about a laptop that's almost 10 years old here, you are investing WAYYYYYY too much effort into something that's worse than a modern NUC.

If you want a practical solution, use something that attaches to the existing heat tubes of the laptop, even just thermal epoxy a copper pipe to it that's been flattened on one side and run water through it. A water block is NOT practical unless you get something that's designed to fit that  exact laptop.

Excellent example of how to do it:
