High idle temps?

TomH
Go to solution Solved by Lipe123,

It's a 7nm thing, the silicon can't transfer all the concentrated heat in such a small space to the top of the heatspreader super fast/quick.

I have a custom loop and similar temps, idle at 44-50C and full load in the 70's.

Hi guys, now I know idle temps don't really matter, however, surely mine are a little high? I am running a Ryzen 5 3600 at stock speeds cooled by a Kraken x63 and my temperatures bounce between around 45 and 55 degrees at idle. The ambient is probably around 20 degrees and I only have CAM open while testing. Load temps seem fine at around 70 in prime 95, I'm just curious as to whats causing this. Thanks.

40-55 idle is normal operation from what I've experienced/read. Perhaps look up 1usmus ryzen power plan and see if that changes anything (should give a small improvement to performance too)

Depends on what's running in the background, there is usually loads of programmes that are actually on in the background, and with slower fan profiles that usually makes idles a bit higher, if you don't mind the noise you can set the fans and pump to 100% but idk if it's worth it. What are heavy load temps like?

Yours faithfully
