Does it have to be unplugged or switched of from the PSU okay?

This doesn't clear the CMOS, this clears the CMOS:

B450 Thomahawk, previous CPU was a ryzen 5 2600x. I’m upgrading to the ryzen 5 3600 and I updated the BIOs to the latest version and still no post idk if this matters but 32g ram Corsair vengeance pro rgb GeForce rtx 1060ti 500w power supply

You updated the BIOS with the 2600X installed and then installed the 3600?

Could you test the system again with the 2600X, just to verify the BIOS version on your motherboard?

Otherwise, I would try testing with a single stick of RAM in slot 2.

Yes I installed with the 2600x and I’ll try and short the pins

I used the screwdriver short method and took a ram stick out and it’s up

Now I would just turn off the system and install the memory back and see if it POSTs again.

If it does, go into the BIOS and don't forget to turn on XMP again.

Also I’m having trouble with my crucial p1 1Tb m.2 I activated the drive in windows partitions(disk manager) and now it’s gone. No where to be found on the computer but it shows up in the bios

You could load the default values and turn off the PC, or just turn it off. Doesn't matter too much, as you have to verify the setup settings anyways after reinstalling the new memory + turning on XMP.

Is it not present at all in Disk Management, or just showing up as a not setup disk?

Not in disk management or explorer I have a CD Rom now that says unlock and when you do it says driver unlocked but nothing appears and installing the second ram stick made it not post

Did you change anything before the P1 didn't work anymore? Like adding another HDD?

Are you installing the second stick in the slot four? (and the first stick in slot two?)

It’s in slot 2 and 4 and won’t boot with the ram stick in slot 2

Try the other stick of RAM (that is in slot 4) in slot 2.

That way you can determine if the motherboard or stick of RAM is the issue

Motherboard is the issue bc the stick was was in 4 would boot but when moved to 2 it won’t boot
