I'm looking for a Motherboard- atm looking for a ATX B550, MSI/Asrock board under $150 (Under $180 if it has decent wifi built-in) that isn't sold out, and isn't super overpriced. Currently I'm looking at the MSI B550-A Pro, but Pcpp states that MSRP is 139.99, and all of sellers list it for $150+, so I'm having a bit of a penny-pinching dilemma. I'm also looking for general build advice on my setup (PC+monitor, maybe audio. Nothing else.). It atm looks like what's pictured below, and I'm planning on buying everything in a few months, give or take. I do realize new cards and possibly CPU are coming out pretty soon. I'd probably would be upgrading to their successors price-wise. I have a budget of $1500, for everything including the monitor. I'm open to other suggestions too, just specifically looking for a motherboard.

ty :)

Perhaps look into getting a decent pair of headphones, instead of buying an aftermarket CPU cooler, as I believe the 3600 comes with a (fairly decent stock heat sink). Otherwise, assuming you already have a mouse/keyboard you like, everything looks good.

I wouldn't say the cooler on the 3600 decent, it serves its purpose but if you dont wanna game at 80c you need a better cooler and as a 3600 owner I highly suggest one too.

For the OP get a motherboard with wifi and drop the adapter, im sure there are good options out there.

First of all, that cooler is not needed.

Second of all, a 550w unit like a tx550m or an rm550x or a straight power 11 550w are more than enough.

As for a board. why msi or ASRock specifically?

Anyways to name some.

under $150

B550 a pro ( even at around 150 it's worth it).

B550 pro vdh. Are pretty decent and will easily power a 6 core.

For 180 dollars and under.

Steel legend.

Strix f.

Aorus pro.

Tomahawk.

Mortar.

Are all good.

If you're building it in a few months just wait for zen 3 and ampere and big Navi.

No games with significant cpu load id imagine? Its impossible to sustain those temps under heavy load with stock cooler unless you undevolted your cpu.

The games were not particularly cpu intensive but we dont know which games OP is playing. I use an aftermarket cooler now but before I had that, I could run cinebench and get 75c max

just a few changes I made. That motherboard is great but if you want one with wifi built in then the Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC is good, but I have put a wifi 6 card in there. The stock cpu cooler is fine to start off with and you can always add something like a hyper 212 black edition or bequiet! dark rock 4. You can fit a better GPU in then. If you can, wait for the new hardware.

Ty for the Wifi... but I do have some questions. First, Is the 2070S really worth the extra $100? I thought the performance was similar. I'm not a fan of Ray tracing so I don't really understand why the 2070S would be worth it more... Can you explain it? Second, can you explain why you changed the PSU? I though the Focus was supposed to be slightly better and a better value. ty :)

When i originally made this list, that psu was $110 but now it is near the price of the focus, it is not as good value as that.

If you are not streaming, using ray tracing or need good hardware acceleration for video editing etc. Then the 5700xt may be a better pick for price. The 2070 super may have 10-15fps more in some games while slightly less in others.
