Should this hurt GPU cooling?

I recently bought an ASUS ROG Strix Rx 480 8g and it ran FPS games such as Call of Duty or borderlands its temp stays around 88 C but whenever I launch games such as Skyrim or fallout they start to stutter while the temp reaches to 90 - 93 C and the PC shuts down. So my question is, if the space in picture enough to cooldown my GPU or is the GPU faulty?

If you leave the side panel off, it's probably okay. Otherwise that looks terrible to me. I don't see how the GPU can be getting any fresh air.

Even with panel off it stays the same. Although it ideals 49 C to 62 C

Yes I think if you don't have any vents in your side panel for the GPU, then opening the case would be better

Yes I think if you don't have any vents in your side panel for the GPU, then opening the case would be better

Point a desk fan at it with the side panel open. Manually set the GPU fans to 100%. If you still have temperature issues with that setup, then it is more likely a manufacturing defect and you should look into doing an RMA.

 

But my gut tells me the issue is that you are starving the GPU of fresh air with that setup.
