Trouble with accessing NTFS Drive's Permissions

Ohbollocks

Hi all!

I recently got a external HDD from a family member with this error message "J:\ is not accessible. Access is denied."

To retrieved the documents on it, I have attempted to change the security of the drive to allow full control. The furthest i got was that I managed to open the drive on windows, where some files were read only. As I am clueless how the permissions work on Windows, I unfortunately ended up back to square one where "J:\ is not accessible. Access is denied." is shown after some tinkering.

The drive appears to be working fine as I am able to open it up on my Macbook. However, I was unable to copy several files out of the harddrive and the only option was manually open them and save as a new file which proves difficult as there are thousands of documents on the drive.

Would greatly appreciate if anyone could provide some guidance on how i could change the permissions for the documents! Thank you! :)

This should help. Just do it for the entire drive instead of a single folder.
