C602/C602J Crossflashing

Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

the other problem is the sockets, lga2011 vs lga2011-1. They physically won't fit in the other sockets.

I have a issue. I own a xeon e7 4830 v2 but no fitting mainboard. The LGA 2011 Xeon e7 use the C602J Chipset and the LGA 2011 Xeon e5 use the C602. The issue is that C602J motherboards are very expensive and very rare to find. I then thought about whether i would be able to use a C602 Mainboard if i somehow would be able to cross flash a C602J Bios onto it. I'm not sure if this somehow works so i thought i might ask here for opinions on this.

Ok thank you @ShrimpBrime The issue is that the chipsets adress the cpu differently (different Pin allocation) so im very unsure wether it works or not

Well knowing that, it's a for sure no.

I'm more familiar with AMD, but the same applies. Socket 939 does not work in socket 940 server even though both run opteron. But have different pin allocation just like the issue you have.
