RTX super 2070 investigation

DG House

i bought for super cheap a AORUS GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER from ebay as defect

the seller sayed he droped the card like only Linus can, it has a little crack on the plastic

after hours of gaming i only have a big stutter, the RGB and fans stopped but after realoding msi afterburner everything is normal (at this moment the card was idle)

also after 5min of Furmark (MSAA x8) the programm crashed but not the system

i did a shit load of testing but without any results.

could it be thats because the version of the card ? ( there a 2 Versions from AORUS GeForce® RTX 2070 SUPER by Gigabyte)

im pretty sure that big stutter (all display gone black) its due to the drop

has someone a idee how i deeper investigate the probelme or better solve it ?

Try underclocking the card. If the same thing happens, disassemble it and inspect the GPU die and PCB for cracks/damage.

under clock the card.

set the power limit to something lower like 80% for example.

and inspect the pcb in general, check for any damage.

and maybe try ddu.

Ddu is used to remove old drivers. You would use it then Install the newest ones available. Here is my favorite guide on how to use it:

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

BRUH

He dropped a 1.3kg card and it survived?????

OK

You should really try to look for cracks since this card is really heavy and if the plastic cracked you can be almost 100% sure that something else cracked too

Warranty is not idiot proof 😉

Drop it - your problem

Why did he sell the card if its working?

Becuase of the problems that you mentioned?

difficult to tell

on the sellers PC side, the card crashed windows as he played Final Fantasy 15 (the seller is a PC noob, but with drop skilled like Linus ^^)

after hours of working normal the card start to crash and even my hole system as i start a game LoL (ARAM)

im gonna investigate more, not only because of the 200€ also im just like to nerding around and learn more about PC hardware

If i dont solve or find a work around, there will be a follow up threat about

but for now DDU, undervolting and try all 7 display outputs is what i have to do

Thanks to all of you for assisting me on this Hardware adventure ^^
