Got a hold of an old dell vorsto and i was wondering do you guys think its worth the time to try and sell it for 50-60 bucks??

I think its a vostro 270 but im not sure since the cpu that in the vorsto 270 is a bit different then what i have here

Those are the specs:

I3 3420

Dell xr1gt - b75 chipset

4gb ram (single mem) 1600mhz

Dell psu

No storage

Before i opened it and looked at the parts i thought maybe its a good 2nd or 3rd gen i7 or maybe an better i5 then what i have now, so i could upgrade my little bros pc but after looking at the parts, my old i5 3550 doesnt compare to that i3 3420...

His pc is has my old i5 3550, z77x d3h, vengeance 16gb 1866mhz (manual oc) and a gtx 650

If its not worth the time selling this pc, should i just salvage the parts and use the ram and maybe disk drive in his pc? The ram is the same speed

I don't see you realistically getting more than $30 USD out of it, especially without a drive. You're best off parting it out, or grabbing an SSD and another 4gb of memory and repurposing it as a server or HTPC.

I have sold a few core 2 duo systems for 40 bucks on craigslist, so you migth as well try if you got the time to test it.

Theres a site called 'yad2' here and also facebooks market place is a good option and most systems are 4790k/4770k systems or 8700k and above systems so im not so sure and they are hella overpriced.

Thought about selling my old system but i rather give to my bro and this i5 3550 also runs at 4.1ghz without problem, not so sure how many 3550s can do that

Maybe its actually better to use it as a minecraft server??

Both of my current systems have 16 gigs of ram and good cpus but i think itll be good to use a seperate system to run the server

Older 2-4th gen systems are excellent as Minecraft servers -- it certainly beats running it on your personal rig.

If you want to test its performance, you can always boot to Ubuntu from a flash drive and set up a server on there. Keep in mind that chunk generation may be limited by the speed of the flash drive.

idk if its actually worth it saving this system

ill keep the i3 3240 just in case since it can fit in my old z77 board and maybe the ram too but other then that im not so sure if its worth having 3 systems at home

my main pc can easily handle minecraft servers without suffering from performance lost and if i really want to i canjust use my bros pc since he is not 24/7 on it and it has, like i said, a 3550 at 4ghz with 4c/4t and 16gb 1860mhz cl10 ram and when i did use this system it handled minecraft and a minecraft serverlike butter

it even handled RLCraft and a RLCraft server (its a pretty damn heavy modpack)
