Windows Activation Help Needed

Alltheshots

I recently built a PC and bought Windows 10. I activated windows on the PC but never linked it to my windows account. Due to some issues I was having I swapped out the motherboard and ram.

I did a clean install of windows and youve guessed it... I cant activate windows using my genuine key as its activated against the original hardware.

Have I just lost my copy of windows or is there hope? Any help is appreciated.

From what I heard just call up Microsoft's help hotline and explain the situation, they will get it sorted out in no time.

There have been several times where I called the phone activation line and it worked just fine.

If I remember right it's:

Open Run

Type in SLUI 4

Click OK

At this point you should be prompted with phone activation.

Current Network Layout:

Current Build Log/PC:

Prior Build Log/PC:

From that it isn't clear if you have OEM or retail key. Retail =/= genuine.

Fair point. Its a retail key.

Managed to get it sorted. All is good with the world again. Thanks for the advice everyone, ended up on the phone with some automated woman telling me what to do 👍
