So I have an amd machine that I got from my brother's former work place. It is using some amd 10 quad core. I do have a single pcie x16 slot. Can I even think about using a graphics card? If so which one. I want to upgrade ram. It has a single stick of 8gb. Not sure if it ddr3 or ddr4 I have a feeling it it the later

Pull out the stick of RAM and read out it specs, and maybe buy a same spec stick, or buy a cheap 3000mhz 16gb in 2x8 RAM kit, you can use a GPU if it has PCIe, make sure it's not PCI tho and look at the power supply, it's probably something propreitary, no more than 400W so get maybe a 1660 Super?

Yeah it runs. It has 8gb of ddr3. It is an amd a10 7800.i want it to be better. I don't think I will have it crazy powerful. I just want to be able to do some light gaming, and some light video editing.

You will need a new power supply if you plan on anything more powerful than a 1650. Even that would be bottlenecked With only 216w on the 12v rail I doubt it has a pcie connector. Unless you change the power supply, I would look at a gt 1030.

Definitely a pcie slot. It is labeled clearly on the motherboard. So is there a good recommendation there. I am just wanting my old beater to be a slightly better beater.
