Kronk

----------------------------------------------

Summary

Two Years ago, linus reviewed the Ergodox EZ keyboard. Well, today they have released an updated version. It's Called the Moonlander:

Quote

"The Moonlander is here.

You've been asking; we've been listening. We're proud to present the newest member in our family of keyboards, featuring:

- A thumb cluster that moves and adjusts to the size of your hand
- A wrist-rest that automatically angles as you tilt and tent the unit
- USB Type C, on the left side
- Every key is RGB-backlit
- Every unit ships with a custom carrying case

That's just the start of all that's new.

We've been working on the Moonlander for over three years.

Now, it's here."

My thoughts

Because of Linus' video, I actually bought an original Ergodox EZ. I'm typing on it right now actually. I love this updated version and I think it would make a good short circuit follow up video.

This is my first post here, please let me know if I goobered anything up.

Good quality first post.

Does it come in any color other than white? That's gonna look not so good rather quickly.

Edit: It does indeed come in black.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

Hello,

I'm also new to the forum.

I also have the Ergodoz Ez but I stopped using it in favor of the Planck.
The main reason I switched was portability. The Ergodox is quite bulky and switching between that and a normal keyboard was out of the question.

Transporting it work everyday was also not a good idea.

As far as I can tell, the Moonlander is much smaller and comes with a transport pouch.

Anyways, I just ordered the it, and I'll post a small review when I have received it (it will probably take a few weeks before it comes).
So if you're not too much in a hurry, you can wait a bit for reviews to come.

I probably won't be the first one to review it but I'll definitely post mine once I get it.

Yeah... I took an ambien last week and I woke up to a receipt for a moonlander. I wanted an ergodox previously, but I saw the Moonlander and apparently had to have it, and its $365 charge. I'm excited! I just hope my wife will be too, doubt it.

  • 1 year later...

It's quite unfortunate that this one simply doesn't have enough keys to support the QWERTZ layout. An all too common pitfall with these expensive ergonomic keyboards. Been looking to upgrade my Natural 4000, but it doesn't seem like any worthwhile upgrade exists.

Wait, this is still considered new? I've had mine since February  🤨

Regardless, this has been a phenomenal keyboard to use and I thoroughly enjoy customizing it to my liking. Took some time to get used to it but boy was it worth it.

This is all nice and everything, but what I'm waiting for is the return of the Ergodex, what I believe to be a much better solution. I currently have two of them, and they are infinitely more configurable that the Ergodox products.

Sadly, the company that produced the DX1 is no longer in business. You can find them occasionally on eBay.
