Are all AM4 processors interchangeable?

Mostly yes. Refer to this chart:

And is AM4 future-proof?

There is one generation left until AM5, so I would say it is.

b350 supports up to zen 2 with a beta bios. (including zen + apus or 3000 apus).

b450 (depending on the board) will support zen 3 with a beta bios. (supports zen and zen + apus).

b550 only supports zen 2, and will support zen 3 with a bios update. ( does not support current gen apus).

x570 supports zen + and zen 2  and will support zen 3 with a bio update. (supports zen+ apus).

x370 is the same as b350.

and x470 is the same as b450.

this is the last year am4 will be used and zen 4 will be on am5.

edit. i just want to clarify that apu's are different.

so, can this use the latest Ryzen chips?

some a320 boards support zen 2 with a beta bios. though they wont support the upcoming zen 3.

this board will not support zen 2 out of the box though afaik, though at this point i would say most a320 boards ship with zen + support out of the box.

Are you doing a sort by lowest price?

I wouldn't use that at all, even for the cheapest CPU.

For an extra £30 you have the pro4 which will probably be able to handle the 4600/4700.

oh yea dont get me wrong, if budget allows spend the extra 30 pounds, though if you are limited  to an a320 board. the s2h is not bad.

The B450 Pro4 is the best budget board for AM4 as it supports almost all current CPUs on the platform and has a competent VRM.

I would strongly suggest avoiding A320 board as they are usually crap and not worth it if you can afford B450 or even B350
