Hello to all i need help and decide on what i will do thanks everyone who will help me out, first of all my pc is with this specs:

Ryzen 7 1700
Asus rog strix b350 f gaming
DDR4 Ram Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200MHZ (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR)
Asus dual gtx 1060 6gb
EVGA 550W B3

and all that i have it on a custom loop with bykski block, barrow pump , and alphacool radiator 240mm full copper.
Ryzen is OC to 3.9 but becuase i was having problems i take it back to stock.

So my problem is that before 1 year in b350 f gaming motherboard the 2 pwm ( cpu fan and cpu opt) stop working if you put a 120mm fan or 140mm fan but if you put the amd ryzen stock
cooler is working, and now before 1 week i take it all out to clean the computer and after put it back the motherboard doesn't recognise the second ram stick the manual says if you do dual channel put it 2 - 4 i try swap nothing i try to use only to the second with 1 ram stick and pc is booting i try and the other stick again is bootting but if you try to put and the 2 rams sticks is not working i take it to a computer technician and he tolds me the motherboards needs to be replaced so i will send it for Rma now the question is :

Should i sell the ryzen 7 1700 and the new motherboard from the rma and go for an i7 9700k and a msi z390 motherboard OR should i just buy an x470 or b450 msi of course what do you think ? ( and i will sell the new asus replaced motherboard ) i don't want to go again with asus i am dissapointed.

and something else the b350 f gaming doesn't run the ram to 3200mhz if i do an update i want it to 3200mhz as the ram is created for because i pay for that.

what you you think ?

thanks!

your ram is rated for 3200mhz, but your CPU might not be able to accept that

zen 1 architecture doesnt take anything past 3000mhz well afaik

Why move to a dead platform?

No. Rma the board and wait for zen 3 and then decide which platform you want to move to. Don't even consider lga1151.

Either Zen 3 or heck even comet lake.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

RMA the board but don't waste money on a 9700K. That's not an upgrade at all. Wait two months and get Zen 3. Also, be more careful when cleaning as you've probably damaged the board while handling it.

i wouldnt say 9700k isnt an upgrade for the 1700

but it sure is not one that makes sense, given today's choices

think he would need a new board for zen 3 because it's b350, which isnt supported right?

Well yes. But if OP wanted to upgrade either way. Coffee lake isn't really a good upgrade considering it's a dead platform.

Eeeeh, not really a real upgrade as you cut the thread count in half and triple the heat produced. The OP has a 1060 so gaming won't change at all with a 9700K

depends, are you looking to sell the system and grab something new or?

1 minute ago, KappaGod23 said:

that's not a high priority thing to do, imo

sure, if your cpu supports it, zen 1 doesnt afaik

2 minutes ago, KappaGod23 said:

again, depends if you're keeping your current system or selling

im not too qualified to give MB suggestions anyways

no one likes when things go south, but it is a risk you take with any computers

I read that zen 3 will support x570 and b550 so it will not come new chipset ? it will be only x570 and b550 and with bios update it will support the zen 3 right ?

so what you think msi x570 ace or x570 aorus master ?

and second question

intel is used for years so you know that it will play right with amd is a risk to take it for example i take the R7 1700 and i am dissapointed

depends, also consider b550. the ace is basically a unify with rgb. and yes you will have to move to a different board.

as for the master, afaik. it's overpriced and does not really do anything special.

nope, that depends on what b550 and what x570 board we're talking about.

not today, no

it's a decent CPU, but there's no future for that platform, it's dead

not worth investing

if you want intel, consider their 10th gen stuff, ie 10600k

1 minute ago, KappaGod23 said:

not necessarily, it has to do with the connections u can make

x570 have more connections available, but also depends on individual boards to implement them
