Storage Devices

I have two storage devices (1tb hard drive & 512gb M.2 nvme ssd), I use the M.2 for boot and and the hard drive for extra storage but when I try to boot up to windows without the hard drive it doesn't work even though I have my boot device set to the M.2?

You probably have the Windows bootloader installed on the HDD.

well how do i get rid of it and put it on the m.2

The only way I know of is to remove the HDD, then reinstall Windows with only the SSD in, so the bootloader gets installed in the correct location. I've never had to move the bootloader, so I haven't researched any alternatives ways.
