So As of late, I have been getting issues with my network. I do network tests and get decent numbers, and consistently. But the issue is that when playing games, my ping spikes unbelievably high. It will be low, around 5-15, then it will spike to anywhere from 30 to 150. If it doesn't spike, I get packet loss and it seems to happen all the time. I've disconnected all devices from my internet connection, reset the connection itself, and I have even gone as far as relocating the router in my room to see if that helped any. I'm at a loss for the cause of it and I don't know if there is anything to do to fix it.

What modem and/or router are you using and is the issue over ethernet, WI-FI, or on all connections?

Additionally, what device are you playing the games on?

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,

I'm using the latest Xfinity Router, the XB6(mistake I know) and it's over Ethernet. I'm playing on my Gaming Rig.

If you're already being charged a monthly fee for the router/modem then it's a good opportunity to upgrade to your own router/modem and avoid the fee, the routers and modems given by the cable company are usually quite terrible and may well be the reason for the high ping numbers. If you would like, I would be able to give you a recommendation for a good router/modem, just tag or quote me with your budget and what country you are shopping from.

If it happens on Ethernet you might have a line issue. If you go to 192.168.100.1 it should let you check your modems stats. Your signal could be on the edge of acceptable and periodically pushing past acceptable when under load. Checking the signal will give you more insight on if you need a tech to come out.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I currently reside in the US. I have a budget of anywhere from 75-130. Assuming that is the viable price to get the speeds I need. I also get really bad upload speeds compared to Download. (I get 200+ Download and barely 5 up lel)

Most home network connections have good download speeds, although quite terrible upload speeds, usually companies would want more upload and I guess that's why the upload on commercial connections are significantly higher. If that's what you are paying for from your ISP, then there's not really anything you would be able to do about it.

I would recommend this internet gateway and would try getting the XB6 returned to Xfinity maybe for a reduction of your bill considering that you will be using your own gateway:
